Brandon Overton joins Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Eagle Raceway
Brandon Overton and the Riggs Motorsports team made the trip to Nebraska this past weekend as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series’ Malvern Bank High Bank Heist was heavily impacted by Mother Nature, with only Thursday’s preliminary program completed.
Overton showed speed from the outset at Eagle Raceway, setting the fastest time in his group and the second-fastest lap overall in qualifying before backing it up with a heat race victory. Rolling off from the front row in the $10,000-to-win preliminary feature, Overton led laps 1-17 and regained the top spot from laps 21-30 before disaster struck. A flat left-rear tire while battling for the lead on lap 35 sent the No. 76 pitside and relegated the team to a disappointing 16th-place finish.
Persistent rain and unfavorable forecasts ultimately forced officials to cancel the remainder of the weekend’s events.
