Overton bags top-10's in Illinois Speedweek
Brandon Overton and the Riggs Motorsports team continued their stretch of competition with a weather-affected Illinois Speedweek campaign that featured a pair of top-10 finishes.
After Tuesday’s scheduled opener at La Salle Speedway was washed out by rain, the team traveled to Spoon River Speedway on Wednesday for the FloRacing Night in America event. Overton battled through a stout field of 38 entries and capped off the night with a seventh-place finish in the 50-lap feature.
Rain continued to disrupt the week, with Thursday’s action at Lincoln Speedway cut short before completion and Friday’s scheduled stop at Farmer City Raceway canceled altogether.
The week wrapped up Saturday at Fairbury Speedway for the FALS Spring Shootout, where Overton ended the trip on a strong note. After racing into the $30,000-to-win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series A-Main with a runner-up finish in his heat, he advanced two positions in the 60-lap feature to record a fourth-place finish.
Overton currently sits fourth in the latest Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series standings.
