Early exit in XR Spring Thaw 100 at Bulls Gap
Tuesday night found Brandon Overton in action at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) for the event serving as a tune-up for the upcoming Spring Thaw.
With 45 XR Workin’ Man Series entries on the grounds, Overton raced his way into the prelim with a consolation victory after finishing fifth in his heat. With $10,000 on the line, Brandon gained three positions to finish 14th.
Returning to the 4/10-mile oval on Saturday afternoon after an unfavorable forecast shortened the XR Super Series-sanctioned Spring Thaw 100 to a single day, Brandon held onto a second-place finish in his heat despite breaking as he crossed the line. Earning the 12th-starting position for the $100,000-to-win A-Main, Overton was an early retiree from the 100-lapper on lap 74.
