Brandon Overton Triumphs in Ed Basey Memorial at Modoc Raceway
Buckeye Spring 50 and Indiana Icebreaker Up Next
EVANS, Ga. (March 23, 2026) — Brandon Overton made a thunderous return to the newly revamped Modoc Raceway this past weekend, charging to a flag-to-flag victory in Saturday’s Ed Basey Memorial, sanctioned by the Southern All Star Series.
The Evans, Georgia native powered his Riggs Motorsports / Budweiser No. 76 Longhorn Chassis Late Model to the $10,004 payday, fending off his younger brother Cody Overton to secure an emotional victory in the event honoring the late Ed Basey.
“Just a special, special race to win,” Overton said. “I always looked up to Edward (Basey). He was one of my heroes when I was growing up. I remember sitting in those same bleachers watching him pass, I think Kelly Guy or whoever, on the outside here. I thought that was the coolest thing ever. So, to come back and win the first one they have at Modoc is really cool.”
Overton kicked off the weekend with a dominant performance on Friday night at Modoc, sweeping the program by setting fast time, winning his heat race, and leading every lap of the feature. The triumph marked his fifth victory of the season and the 12th of his career with the Southern All Star Series.
He capped the doubleheader weekend with a strong fourth-place finish in Saturday’s $20,000-to-win Ginger Owens Memorial March Madness at Cherokee Speedway.

Action resumes this weekend with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presented by FloRacing. Overton is set to compete in Friday’s Buckeye Spring 50 at Atomic Speedway before heading to Brownstown Speedway for Saturday’s 29th annual Indiana Icebreaker. Overton enters the doubleheader third in the latest series standings.
