Top-5's in Ocala's Wieland Winternationals
Riggs Motorsports and Brandon Overton continued their campaign with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Ocala Speedway, where the D-shaped Florida oval hosted another round of the Wieland Winternationals.
Overton opened the week with back-to-back fourth-place finishes on Tuesday and Wednesday, showcasing consistency against a stout field. He added a sixth-place run on Thursday before rain forced the cancellation of Friday’s program.
When action resumed Saturday, Overton quickly demonstrated his speed. He earned overall fast time honors and backed it up with a heat race victory to secure a front-row starting spot for the $25,000-to-win finale. Taking control at the drop of the green, Overton led the first 36 laps of the feature before a flat tire while out front dashed his hopes of victory, relegating him to a 17th-place finish.
Following the weekend, Overton holds third in the latest series championship standings.
