Overton claims runner-up finish in Blue-Gray 100 at Cherokee Speedway
Brandon Overton was among 41 competitors entered in the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series event at Cherokee Speedway over the weekend, taking part in the 35th annual Blue-Gray 100.
After falling short of a transfer spot in Friday’s preliminary program, Overton bounced back on Saturday with a strong showing. He qualified second-fastest in his group and went on to win his heat race, securing a prime starting position for the feature.
In the $35,000-to-win A-Main, Overton advanced two positions over the course of the 100-lap affair to finish second. He led a total of 51 laps—setting the pace from laps 23 to 50 and again from laps 72 to 94—before relinquishing the lead in the final stretch. He ultimately finished runner-up to Zack Mitchell, with Cory Hedgecock rounding out the podium in third.
