Top-10 finish in Pittsburgher at PPMS
The Riggs Motorsports Longhorn Factory Team No. 76 Late Model hit the track with a bold new look over the weekend, as Brandon Overton debuted a green and purple color scheme at the 37th Annual Pittsburgher at Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway.
Competing against a 43-car field in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned event, Overton had a challenging start on Friday, slipping back in his heat race. However, he bounced back with a runner-up finish in his B-Main to secure a spot in the main event, where he gained seven positions to finish 11th in the opener.
Saturday brought a stronger showing for the Georgia native. After timing in seventh-fastest in his group, Overton raced to a third-place finish in his heat to earn a starting spot in the $50,000-to-win Pittsburgher finale. He was running third on lap 59 of the 70-lap feature when a right-rear flat tire forced him to the pits. Despite the setback, Overton salvaged a 10th-place finish.
