Fifth-place finish in Southern Nationals stop at Volunteer
Brandon Overton joined the Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals on Saturday at Wythe Raceway (Rural Retreat, Va.) for the second round of the 12-race miniseries.
After racing into the A-Main with a runner-up heat showing, Overton got upside down on the ninth circuit while running second in the feature. He was able to escape unharmed.
On Sunday at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.), Brandon backed up the fourth-fastest qualifying lap in his time trial group with an eighth-to-fifth run in the $7,553-to-win A-Main. He chased Dale McDowell, Chris Madden, Ricky Weiss, and Cory Hedgecock to the checkers.
