Overton hustles to Turkey 100 opener at Swainsboro Raceway
Brandon Overton hopped behind the wheel of his brother Cody’s No. 97 Late Model over the weekend for the two-day Turkey 100 at Swainsboro Raceway (Swainsboro, Ga.).
Drawing 26 Crate Late Models for Friday’s preliminary night, Brandon raced into the opener with the fastest qualifying lap overall. Leading flag-to-flag in the 30-lap affair, Overton soared to his ninth win of the season, which came ahead of Will Roland, Ben Faircloth, his brother Cody, and Dillon Brown.
On Saturday, Overton backed up the second-fastest qualifying effort with a heat race victory. Surrendering the lead to his brother Cody on lap 32 of the feature after leading the previous 18 circuits, Brandon rolled to a fifth-place finish in the 50-lap finale. He chased Cody, Will Roland, Carson Ferguson, and Pearson Lee Williams to the checkers.
