Overton finishes seventh in Elkhorn 100 prelim at Off Road Speedway
Monday saw Brandon Overton return to action but in a different ride as hopped behind the wheel of the Longhorn Chassis Rumley Engineering developmental car at Off Road Speedway (Norfolk, Neb.) for the two-day event with the XR Super Series.
With a pair of preliminary features kicking off the Elkhorn 100, Overton followed up a fourth-place finish in his heat with a seventh-place run in his 25-lap prelim.
On Tuesday, Brandon locked his spot into the $100,000-to-win Elkhorn 100 with a runner-up finish in his heat. Moving forward three spots in the 100-lap affair, Overton raced to an 11th-place finish.
Navigating to Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) on Friday, Brandon entered the Rumley-backed No. 5 Late Model into battle with the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series for the 33rd running of the Prairie Dirt Classic weekend. After topping the massive 63-car field in time trials, Overton suffered an electrical issue on lap six of his preliminary feature that sidelined him while running sixth.
Buried in a B-Main on Saturday, Overton’s 13th-to-7th run relegated him into the non-qualifier feature. With the winner receiving the option to tag the tail of the field for the $50,000-to-win Prairie Dirt Classic finale, Brandon gained three spots to finish 10th.
