Brandon Overton lands top-10 in Go 50 at Huset's Speedway
Competing in the annual Silver Dollar Nationals at its new home in South Dakota, Wells Motorsports and Brandon Overton trekked to Huset’s Speedway (Brandon, S.D.) on Thursday afternoon for the Go 50 opener.
Drawing 36 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries for the 13th running of the crown jewel weekend, Overton stopped-the-clock second-fastest in his group before placing first in his heat. Chasing a $12,000 payday in the feature, Brandon faded to finish ninth.
For a pair of heat races on Saturday afternoon after Mother Nature shifted Friday’s program back, Brandon followed up a fourth-place finish in the first round with a fourth-to-first run in his second heat.
With passing points accrued from heat races setting the grid for the $53,000-to-win Silver Dollar Nationals later Saturday night, Overton rolled off fifth for the 80-lapper but was scored 22nd in the final rundown after pulling off on lap 75.
Brandon is currently fourth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
