Second-place finish in Duel in the Desert opener
Brandon Overton made the trek to Las Vegas Motor Speedway (Las Vegas, Nev.) on Friday afternoon to enter his Wells Motorsports No. 76 Late Model into battle for the two-day Duel in the Desert. In a field of 32 cars, Overton followed up the second-fastest time in his group with a heat race win. With $10,000 on the line in the feature, Brandon jumped up one spot in the 40-lapper to place second. He followed Jonathan Davenport across the line with Tim McCreadie, Bobby Pierce, and Josh Richards rounding out the Top-5.
After topping the 30-car field in time trials on Saturday, Brandon streaked to a 10-lap heat race win, which positioned him second on the starting grid for the $50,000-to-win finale. With a lost tire during the parade lap docking him to the tail, Overton worked his way up to 11th but ended up retiring early on the 39th circuit.Back to News
