Eighth-place finish in Lincoln Speedway's Illinois Speedweek
Riggs Motorsports driver Brandon Overton rolled out the Longhorn Factory Team No. 76 Late Model at LaSalle Speedway on Tuesday as the newly relaunched oval hosted the opening round of Illinois Speedweek.
Competing against a formidable field of 48 entries for the FloRacing Night in America season opener, Overton advanced to the $20,000-to-win A-Main with a third-place finish in his heat race before recording a 16th-place result in the 50-lap feature.
After falling short of a transfer spot during Wednesday’s program at Spoon River Speedway, the Evans, Georgia native bounced back with his strongest performance of the week on Thursday at Lincoln Speedway. Overton claimed a heat race win and went on to finish eighth in the main event.
On Friday, the focus shifted to Farmer City Raceway for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned Farmer City 74. Overton started strong but slipped back in the feature to finish 16th.
He closed out the week on Saturday at Fairbury Speedway’s FALS Spring Shootout, where he led the first 16 circuits of the A-Main before ultimately crossing the line in 12th.
